I used 1 tsp garlic flakes, 1 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp thyme, and I sprinkled the chickpeas with paprika and pepper, and they had plenty of flavor. Very yummy!

My local grocery store did not have Anaheim peppers and I was out of jalapenos, so I used 5 unseeded Serrano peppers in their place.

I used about 1/4 tsp. cinnamon instead of cardamom and sesame oil instead of olive oil. I also added about a teaspoon of molasses. Pretty tasty  ;)b

I didn't really like it. After I added some soy sauce and a roasted red pepper, it was edible, but I wouldn't make it again. It was also a bit too thin for my tastes.
