Reasons to be excited!!!!!

ok, not like we really need another 'reasons to...' thread, but a couple of times recently I had a reason to be excited, not necessarily reason to smile and so maybe other people do too!
My RTBE: I just bought my very first car!!!!! I get to pick it up next week, so have a little while before I get to drive it but yay!!

bf doesn't have to work tomorrow like he thought he might have to (he's been working late, crunching all week). so now we can go to our favorite japanese restaurant for all you can eat sushi lunch! oh man, I'm way too excited about this.
I got to meet Duff Goldman (from Ace of Cakes) and Cat Cora (Iron Chef) today. I'm still high from that.

we're going on our first long road trip tomorrow. Niall is driving us to Taranaki and we get to camp overnight at a lovely looking beach resort thing and celebrate our neighbours being married! (their wedding is today but we get to go to their massive beach party celebration!)
i find out tomorrow if i go on a huge beery advenure which includes a dinner with mr. Coors..... And a invite only special dinner with head guys, in colorado, like the other beer meca besides us (wa state). If the plane ticket round trip is under one thousand my friend in the industry is paying for it. Finges crossssssed i need a vacation,it is a six day trip.

well i am not going to colorado, we agreed if we couldn't find a plane ticket for under one thousand i wouldnt go, but i am excited that i keep getting invited to these events :) i will probably go do something cool soon and make some good business connections. My rct is coming to stay with me this week anyway!
I finally have a reason to be sort of excited! I mentioned ebook readers to DH and he says they "aren't that expensive" and we can look at them. There is a whole bunch of free ebooks out there! I don't know which brand is easiest to use (I'm a total technotoddler) but I am really starting to want one. Maybe for the 14th? Maybe.

It is about the possibility a new house bill. On the surface, the house bill will keep tax dollars from being used to pay for abortions. Buuut, below the surface, the bill is trying to change the definition of 'rape' and 'force', making it harder for women to claim they were raped or sexually-assaulted.
I wrote a 2 page letter saying that I see both sides on the tax-dollar issue but I don't agree with taking the power away from women and controlling them. :)

I missed this, how was your trip, Shell? [though I don't know that taranaki counts as a 'long' road trip from Wellington!!

Yes, we have a kindle and it's awesome. I highly recommend it.
I discover that Kindle is a US only product (which means even if I got one, it's not wired for European electricity etc). But one of my students had her Papyre on her, which is basically the same thing. They're expensive (like 2-300 Euros) but DH is saying that it's doable. We'll go shopping Friday. Now if I can just stop him from making a snap decision like he did about the Sony Mp3 I never use because it sucks so bad. Slick, pretty, expensive...but the software is a nightmare.
ETA: So today we went shoppin' and he got me a Papyre. I think it's a European thing. They really push Sony stuff but I don't want it!! It comes pre-loaded with about 100 Spanish classics, which will do to learn to play with it, but we'll see what I come up with. Nero Wolfe here I come!!

so, a 6 hour trip isn't long ??? it felt long to us.....especially the drive back after lack of sleep and hungover. But yeah it was great and the setting was amazing and they should have some mazing photos (haven't been printed yet)
reason to be excited today: in 9 and a half hours Niall's parents will be in NZ!!! Woo hoo!
