My Cholesterol went up?!

Every time I give blood they check my cholesterol and I can keep track of it online, I just gave blood last tuesday and checked my cholesterol and it went up!
My Cholesterol history is:
April 9 2009: 124
July 22 2009: 111
September 25 2009: 110
February 2 2010: 131

I was vegan/vegetarian every time I gave blood but my diet has been changed about every time. The first time I was probably eating more macrobiotic vegan (lots of grains) then in the summer I got into eating local eggs from the farmers market but my cholesterol went down surprisingly. I have been veg. since January 2006 and vegan since April 2008 so these numbers do reflect a longer stent into not eating meat and my cholesterol. I was pretty active in the summer but I am way more active now. I was really curious what my level would be now being pretty high raw vegan for around 3 months and going to the gym practically every day. It might be due to the higher fat content in my diet from nuts and seeds that help keep me warm in this cold weather. I usually get around 30% of my calories from fat from mostly sunflower seeds and flaxseeds and occasionally from pumpkin seeds, avocados, walnuts, grapeseed oil and coconut. I am curious how my level will be in the summer when I give 80-10-10 a try. I am not too much worried about my level just more so curious why it went up so much....

Anybody have their cholesterol checked and if so what are your levels?

I agree, your cholesterol could have improved by an increase in HDLs. A separate count will help you figure it out better. However, your cholesterol is so low that I really wouldn't worry about it. Anyone eating a healthy vegan diet (w/ lots of whole foods & veggies, & no trans-fats) should be totally fine.

Yeah, I don't think you are in a range where even if it went up a little more it would be disasterous.  I just got my cholesterol checked for the first time in January and I've been vegan for almost a year and it was 180, which was way higher than I expected but my parents told me that high cholesterol just runs in the family, so I suppose it could be a heredity thing and your diet alone is keeping it so low.

I didn't think of it being a raise in good cholesterol. They just give you a number basically for the count. I really want a more conclusive test and like a test of all my mineral levels and all that jazz so I know where everything is once I can get insurance and find a good doctor who is more knowledgeable about "natural living" than my last one

I am not worried at all about my levels I just couldn't understand why it went up but I guess even after a little research I still didn't think that my good cholesterol raised. Now I see the light and thats why I posted this....

Make sure you're using the right kinds of oils in your cooking.  Olive oil can be very healthy for you.
