Frying PB

Is peanut butter better on toasted bread or bagels? What if I took a bagel half and lathered it with peanut butter and then fried it on the side with the peanut butter would it be any different from spreading the pb after it's toasted? I know this sounds dumb but I am just trying to incorporate some different textures into plain bread! Any feedback will be helpful :)
I've never tried this, but I don't think the peanut butter would stick to the bread. I'm afraid it would stick to the pan or the spatula since it would get so soft it could be runny. I'd go with toasting the bread (any kind) and slathering the peanut butter after. If the toast is still warm, the peanut butter will still get very soft. Tasty.
I feel sooo old... ;) It's common knowledge among the faithful that Elvis Presley's favourite sandwich was fried PB and bananas. So yes, you can. You'd probably want to slather the outside with some kind of buttery spread to keep it from sticking, tho.
No, I am NOT a Presley fan, but my best friend in HS definitely was. To her visiting Graceland was like going to Lourdes or Jerusalem. I know far more about The "King" than I'd really like to... :P
Like frinstance, he actually had red hair...he dyed it black to look like Tony Curtis.
'Twas my understanding he was talking about putting the peanut butter on a slice of bread and putting it peanut butter-side down in the pan. Enclosing the peanut butter between two slices of bread would certainly work.
And, Yabbit, you were born the year I graduated from high school. Old? Why you're just a young thing. ;)
Merci, ma belle. You are a comfort.
They say "you're as old as you feel" and I am slowly counting back from about 102...LOL

Ummm... Really?! :o That is the weirdest thing I've ever heard! I had no idea!

I also thought he was talking about having bread PB-side down in the pan... And I agree that that probably wouldn't work. I have, however, made a grilled (not fried like Elvis ;)) PB-banana sandwich! It was so delicious!
i used to make a snack w/ bread slices cut into strips (or leave whole), slathered w/ pb and cinnamon mix, both sides...then rolled in crushed vanilla wafers.
then, you toast them up a bit in the toaster oven.
its really good.
