Gaah! Unlikely ingredients!

So I reached for a jar of peanut butter in the cabinent to do a little baking, and we were out of the organic natural peanut butter I usually use.  Instead I substituted some creamy Giant Eagle (generic) brand peanut butter.

While I was waiting for the oven to preheat, I casually looked at the label and discovered--ahhh!!!--mono and di glycerides!!  Bleah, of all places!

Any one else had a similar experience?  I now double check everything, including boxed plain rice and simple things like applesauce.  I guess if peanut butter can be sketchy, other things can too.  Thoughts?

Yeah, I was sabataged at work the other day. Normaly I stay away from any thing in the faculty lounge but I walked in and there was a bowl of macadamia nuts sitting out next to their bag. I didn't pay much attention because they looked very plain so I grabbed a handful. They had an off taste so I picked up the bag and there it was... butter. Blagh, Oh well just shows you it can show up any where. I just don't understand why you have to ruin a perfectly good nut w/ butter.

I was with a friend at one of those giant discount grocery stores & bought a six pack bag of semolina pasta with cracked pepper. At home I read the label & it had gelatin in it. I've seen gelatin in all sorts of odd things, ice cream bars, nail polish remover, but never pasta.  ???
