I'd like to make a suggestion to anyone about to thaw out frozen bananas. Make sure you thaw them in a bowl or on a plate! I thawed mine out on my countertop which is made of either marble or some type of ceramic, and there are now brown banana shaped stains that won't come off! I've tried soap, hot water, and baking soda and nothing seems to work!
i want to know why ya'll are baking topless!! ::)
noillusions: i know about burning the carpet ;) what a mess. stupid hot stuff holders that don't work well at keeping the hot stuff away >:(
Finding a decent pot holder or oven mitt in Spain is nearly impossible. Either they're cheap acrylic fabric (ie plastic, NOT good around heat) or someone crochets you a cutesy little cotton potholder that is full of HOLES, yeah? This is so helpful!
So I patchwork squares and quilt them to several thicknesses of wool cloth (yes, I know, don't say it) and save my hands.

It's hot here in Las Vegas! Sometimes the kitchen is so hot I just have to take it all off. Not when I'm on the stove or using the oven though (at least not anymore!). But chopping and other prep work/cleaning dishes---especially in the summer, sometimes it all comes off. ;)
When I lived in Miami, my AC didn't work, so I hardly ever wore clothes, much less cook with them on! It was an inferno! :o
*Luckily, no accidents 8)
