Blinders
I was contacted by the maker of the documentary film, Blinders (the truth behind the NYC carriage ride tradition), and I want to promote it as much as I can! There is a website where you can learn more about the film, watch the trailer, see where the screenings are (all over the country! April-August). There is going to be a showing here in Missoula, and I'm going to do my best to get the word out. Here is the website:

BLINDERS
"The New York City horse-drawn carriage industry is highly controversial. Carriage operators and city politicians say that horse-drawn carriages are a symbol of New York, and animal rights activists say that tradition is no excuse for abuse. With three fatal accidents since 2006, the plight of the carriage horse is now in the public eye more than ever before. BLINDERS takes viewers behind the scenes to expose the truth behind the tradition."

Actually, the writer/producer/director contacted me via myspace! He said he found me by searching "Missoula and animals." He asked me to help promote the film, and sent me some postcards to distribute. :)

Wow--that is the first time i have ever heard of myspace accomplishing something useful! How cool is that!!!
and, of course, that made me cry :'(
and, of course, that made me cry :'(
I know. I'm excited to see the whole thing, but I know it will be very heart-wrenching. Did you check the shows? Is there one near you? I don't remember.
I'm at work crying at my desk. :'( The whole thing broke my heart but I couldn't stand watching that horse struggling to drink, unable to reach the water. I don't even understand why one would enjoy a carriage ride on a busy city street? What would it take to have this stopped? Obviously fatal accidents can't compete with tourist dollars
Thanks for posting AllyChristine.
Thanks for watching. He did a great job with the film, and hopefully it will open some eyes.....I hope the end is near.
