Has anyone read the book Get Political for Animals? http://www.nifaa.org/manual.html
Just wondering if it is good/informative/worth buying.
Thanks in advance. :)
it sounds good... never read it, though.
you could see if they have it at the library (i'm a big library advocate :))

Me too (on the library advocate thing). I checked...but they don't have it.
Normally, I NEVER buy books. But lately I find I get frustrated when I check out any animal rights book from the library, because I get the hankering to highlight important excerpts I want to remember and keep around. So I have given in to buying books on this particular subject.
Thanks for the suggestion though, Hespedal! I like that you're so anti-consumerism! Dat's cool! 8)
that's too bad, why hasn't anyone read this?!
i love that doggie on the cover. dawww. :-*
Can your library do loans from other libraries in the area?
If I find a book at the library I feel the need to highlight in (which is often) then I go buy it...
I guess this really has nothing to do with much, but eh. I'll post it anyway.

i personally checked if it was at any library in my area (or my parents area, as i will be visiting them soon), and it wasn't.
this is what i do with books: get them from the library, if i like a passage or quote i will make a copy or write it down. if i like the books so much that i want to loan it to other people to read, i buy it from a used books store or amazon (try to find something that is close for shipping).
i do it not only because i hate wasting resources, but also because i hate spending money, and ALSO because I don't really like having stuff (this is partially due to the fact that I have moved every year for the past four years :o)
but, i mean, how cute is that dog? how could you not get political for it?!

Looks kind of like my little Star pup.
I have a Barnes and Noble GC... maybe they can order it for me and I can report back?
EDIT: Woah- $29 bucks?!?!

no wonder it isn't at the library!

That's one of those books unless you get a stellar review of it from a lot of people that you MUST first check out at the library. OR, hey I just thought of this- you can order it from Borders and you are not required to purchase it, even if they special order it for you. That way, you could check it out and not be obligated to get it if it doesn't look interesting. Plus, you can hang out in Borders for hours just reading. It's like... a special library-esque place ;)
Meggs - my library does do loans from all the libraries in the county...unfortunately none of them have this book.
And I know!---$29! What the hell!
That's why I thought I'd ask around to see if it is any good before I buy it.
Your idea, Meggs, is not a bad one. Unfortunately, I don't see that Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or Borders are carrying this book. :-\
I'm thinking that maybe the book can only be purchased through NIFAA (the organization that wrote the book) via the link I provided in my first post.
I see that NIFAA are selling one copy on Amazon for $27--not much of a bargain, but I guess it's better than nothing.
Hespedal--I'm with you. I don't like buying things either. I enjoy being a minimalist in terms of materialism. And yeah, that doggie on the front cover IS cute!!

It's worth a shot to see if Borders can special order it?!
Unless you're right about the organization being the only ones to sell it, which would be good for them, profit-wise, I suppose.
Good luck, SB!
Thanks! :) When I get it and read it, I'll write up a review and post it here.
