I've been thinking about books lately.  What books are on your wish list?  They could be book-books, cookbooks, whatever.

Mine are:
1.  Intutitive Cooking: From the School of Natural Cookery
2.  Deep Survival: Who Lives, Who Dies, and Why
3.  Memories of My Melancholy Whores

i have read #3. good.

off the top of my head i really want to find "Being Is Enough : Collective Self-Help for a Sustainable World"  by Doug Brown. i NEVER buy books unless i have already read them, like them enough that i want other people to read them, and find them at the used book store, and i just can't find this one at any libraries. anyone read it?

I read Memories of My Melancholy Whores a while back, HH.  It's good!  I really like Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

I really want Joy of Vegan Baking.  I've wanted it forever.

I'm always thinking about books....perhaps too much...I honestly have my Amazon wish list organized into eighteen separate lists....I need help.

The ones that are actually in my cart to purchase are:

The Joy of Vegan Baking: The Compassionate Cooks' Traditional Treats and Sinful Sweets

Food Not Lawns: How to Turn Your Yard into a Garden And Your Neighborhood into a Community

Ecopsychology: Restoring the Earth, Healing the Mind

I just wish the 2 books I ordered back in November would appear at the university bookshop. Amazon's postage charges to Spain cost more than the books, so I order from the UBS. Usually they're pretty good--I know this isn't his problem but the English side's distributor. I'm waiting for a new copy of Godden's "In This House of Brede" (having read my third copy to pieces). When I ordered it they had them in stock, now suddenly it's out of print--I guess they fill British orders first.
And the Pepys' Diary "Companion"--the historical reference book that explains things in the Diaries. Should make good reading--if it ever comes!

Right now I would do a great deal for something (ANYthing) new to read in English!! Monday I will go and see if one of the Restoration plays I have to tutor has come in yet...they're waiting on many copies of that for the students. It's "The Woman Turned Bully"--should be interesting!

Oh Frabjous Day! Callooo! Callay!! she chortled in her joy.

A little bird flew to my apartment today and brought me a copy of "In This House of Brede". Not the one I ordered, just a lovely surprise from a lovely friend. :)>>> :-*

Reading...bliss....It's a book I first read when I was about 11 and have loved ever since and read repeatedly. It's so well constructed and written...truly Rumer Godden's greatest work.

True friends give books.

So true Yabbit!  I would love to get books as gifts!

I splurge on books.  I used to read mainly fiction, but I now I'm too interested in our real life happenings.  My last purchase was Eckhart Tolle's "Power of Now" and "New Earth"  (no, I got them before Oprah started her on-line club craze for them,  ::)  but I gotta say I'm glad she's promoting "New Earth!"  ;)b)

On my list to buy:
"Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn
"Talmud of Jmmanuel"  by George Green
"Awake in the Wild: Mindfulness in Nature as a Path of Self-Discovery" by Mark Coleman

being in school, it's hard to take the time for novels, but I'm rediscovering them again. and now, my to-read list is HUGE, and it keeps growing. I love books and I love to read. it's wonderful that I've been treating myself to that again.
