I said n'ah lets vote green (which is pretty much throwing away your vote for "none of the above".... as we were walking out #1 said loudly.. It's insane right now. History might be in the making in our government. The Tories government thought that the opposition would let everything go as they did in the past, fearing another election, but they have done a mistake. They have put out a blatanly partisan economic statement. They are always coming back on their promises and we all remember in our last elections how much the Conservatives tried to deny that there was a financial/economical crisis. They were practically laughing at the other parties faces by saying that the economy in Canada was just swell! Now, instead of suggestions solutions or preventive measures, they want to make money cuts where it definitely suits them : the opposition (by cutting in party public funding), the government workers (by trying to prevent them from their rights to strike), the juridically and financially oppressed (by cutting in equity programs). All the economists have spoken loud and clear against this economic statement. What are the Conservatives trying to prove or to do? Who are their advisors? Politically speaking, they were completely in the wrong. They might be in power, but the Canadian population have actually voted more for the other parties than for them, they kind of forgot they were a minority goverment.
Well, they are coming back on their statement right now, they have lost all credibility and are now fighting to keep the power. A coalition between the Liberals and the New Democratic Party was in the talk and today, a recording from a NDP telephone caucus was made public stating that the NDP were also trying to form a coalition the Bloc Québécois, a little while before the economic statement was out. That was the big news of the day actually. A conservative party representative infiltrated the discussions and made the recording and leaked it out, trying to discredit the NDP by saying they were actually planning to overthrow the governement for a while now.
We are ruled by a bunch of clowns, and I am entertained. I can't wait to see what will happen. The Canadian constitution does allow a coalition government, but it has never been done. It's crazy, but I'd be glad to throw the Tories out. :D

I am NOT entertained.
I guess it doesn't really matter who you vote for.. the slimy bastard politicians will manipulate the rules and results to suit themselves.
I really think there should be an option on the ballet for "none of the above". Don't ask me what happens if "none of the above" gets the most votes.
grrr

I am not impressed either. I'm really worried with the precedent that Harper has created here. So, whenever a government doesn't want to face the music, they will resolve to prorogation? For the last week, I feel as if we have clowns at head of State. And both sides are both laughable! The Conservative government seems to live in la la land if they think that they can rule as if they were a majority and the Coalition of Grits and NDP putting Dion at its head?! And in the meanwhile, there is still apparently a "financial" crisis that needs to be taken care of. I just don't know where this country is heading, seriously.
