Dick Cheney

I know it is stressful being the vice president of the U.S. but what do you think this guy is eating?????

"Cheney's health has long been an issue.

In 2005, he underwent six hours of surgery on his legs to repair a kind of aneurysm, a ballooning weak spot in an artery that can burst if left untreated.

He has had four heart attacks, quadruple bypass surgery, two artery-clearing angioplasties and an operation to implant a special pacemaker in his chest."

i wonder if any of you have ever even met anyone from iraq.  please correct me if i am wrong in assuming this.  the reason i say this is that i live in sweden, where the rate at which iraqis are seeking asylum and immigrating is ASTOUNDING!!  when i came here, i was in swedish classes with them.  they live in my building.  their kids go to school with my kids.  they are all over the place, and i talk to them.  they know i am american.  absolutely NONE of them has said anything negative about the US being in their country.  many of them plan on going back one day after it all is said and done.  (don't know when that will ever be, but they are hopeful).

my iraqi neighbor down the hall likes Bush.  it was an american military aircraft that got his ass out of iraq when he was on the black list.  all of his workmates and their families were being killed by saddam hussein.  he wants to move to america.

i am sure not all iraqis feel exactly the same about what is going on.  i think they want out of there, but that they are looking forward to the promised (or anticipated) end result and some want to go back.

i am not saying that i agree or disagree with the war in iraq.  i think that topic could be discussed 24/7 and we would never get anywhere.  i don't, however, think that it is  cut-and-dry good or bad.  it is unfortunate that anything needed to be done in the first place.

just my 2 cents...

Well, Let me ask you this....If we never "invaded" Iraq...would those kids be in Sweden? Why are they there? How may of their Mothers, Fathers, Brothers, Sisters, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Friends, Etc...have been killed or wounded? For What reason? The war on TERROR? Who started the war on terror? It was not Iraq...they never posed a threat to anyone! All I have to say is that if Saddam was still alive (and no...he was not a good man...but then again are Bush or Cheney)?..those kids would be going to school in Iraq. Too bad so many read into the bullsh*t...thinking that invading Iraq had even1 single good cause. Iraq would have been better with Saddam in place....so glad we killed him...after all...ALL life is SACRED....ALL life....even his! Who caused more death, Saddam or Cheney/Bush?......go look it up.....
How many millions have left their homeland and leave everyday...worse...how many died today?

sorry, i got off on a tangent in my other post.  i know we are focusing on american lives lost.  my cousin has done 2 tours in iraq, and is definitely somewhat traumatized by it.  he can't be around very many children at once now, he gets very anxious.  apparently, the children in iraq would always surround them and put their hands up and he became very anxious during those times, being armed and all.

dick cheney is not the only person in the world who has made a decision that benefited him financially over someone else, even if it meant someone else lost their lives.  dick cheney is not the only person in the world who hunts.  dick cheney is not the only person in the world who has worked for companies that are harmful to the environment or people's health.  dick cheney is entitled to his personal beliefs on gay marriage, despite his daughter being gay.  i love my children more than i can explain, but if they do something that i view as being "wrong", that will not change my belief.  i still believe it is wrong to lie, cheat, steal, kill, etc...even if my children do it.  i think he is an easy target for us to focus our anger at.  anger that we have for so many things, and to get real, so many (other) people!  maybe someone close to us and that makes the hate personal.

but i do have to say that other countries who talk trash about america going into iraq are somewhat hypocritical.  what do you think would happen if their country was faced with the same situation that faced iraq?  you bet your ass they're hitting speed dial to bush and cheney to send in our troops.  we know it and they know it.  it is not wrong for the US to ask for something in return in that case.  i think if you look deep enough, there is something there to be proud of.  being the "go-to guy".  that being said, the loss of lives is always unfortunate and i am saddened by that.

I'm lost on this quote....faced by what? Invasion by the US? The US was never threatened by Iraq. If we were...somehow I and the rest of the world missed it....

just over tired and jet-lagged today...(after flying 3 different flights to get home)....but HEY...it's SPRING here!...my organic fruit trees are blooming! I wish all the world could stop and pause and see the beauty in it....i wish....i really do.....

my neighbor and the parents at school have all been here over 10 years, so they sought asylum from saddam hussein, not the war.  and yes, the others who have come in the last several years are here due to the war, definitely.  i am not complaining about them going to school here, just stating a fact.  some of the children would be WORKING if they were in iraq, and not going to school.  but think about it.  if something terrible were going on in the US and our troops, or even troops from other countries were fighting on our own ground, would you leave?  whether the war was opposing something you thought of as good or evil, you still wouldn't want to be here.

i think it is hard to stand by the statement that iraq never posed a threat to "anyone".   saying that iraq would have been better with saddam in place is naive to say for someone who has never been there and has lived in a free country all of his life.  i don't believe that bush and cheney went into office with the intention to have a war.  they were presented with a series of events and reacted.  the plan went to sh*t.  so, now what?  we have to forget the anger from the past and focus on the now.  where do we go from here?

i realize my views are drastically different from probably all of you.  i am the first to admit that i do not know everything about this war and its causes.  maybe some of you do know all of it.  but i have daily contact with iraqi people who lived there under saddam hussein's rule, and afterwards during the war and that is the perspective i am coming from.

since i can see that many of you are passionate on this subject, and i am not, i will bow out of this thread as of now.  i am not the least bit upset by anyone's responses, we just look at things differently.

I woke up this morning and I still hate Dick Cheney.
Regardless and independant of Iraq.
I don't like the TIE he wore yesterday.  ;)

Had to put this link out there for anyone who wants to see it before this thread dies... as it should. :)

Fiona,
I'm glad you aren't upset, the goal wasn't to upset you, this isn't that kind of a place. It's just that this was a facetious kind of thread that we were being ridiculous on and you commented in a serious way about our moral perspective.

I hope Cheney dies in jail.
And his little puppet too.

I'm not trying to attack anyone here, and this thread should probably just die...
But the intention to start a war with Iraq has been an obejective since before Bush SR was in office. The people in charge are doing an excellent job of making people forget RECENT history... (some people might call this largescale brainwashing). Check out The Bush Family Fortunes documentary, if you're interested in researching more about what's really behind the war. It just touches on the issues, but is a good introduction to the dollar signs behind the war on "terror".

Stumbleene,
Read about "The Project For A new American Century"...it was written by Wolfowitz, Cheney, Rummy, etc. Look at the date it was written and read about Iraq and the Middle East. Iraq was hand picked as centrally located in the middle east.....for what?...why to dominate the middle east and control it's oil. We are an Empire are we not? I guess the "project" didn't go as planned.... >:( Too bad so many had to die for their "world domination" plan gone wrong.......
The "authors" of this project......are quite the scary bunch are they not....?

Here's the plan folks....

Thanks for the info, I checked it out. I don't see their names credited, though. If you have any more information to share, I'd love it.  :)

Hey Stumbleene,
By looking at the site again, it looks like "the Powers That Be" have made the "names" go away from  their original statements...If you read the articles posted there on the site, they do have many "quotes" as to who wrote "The Project"...email if you want...look in my profile...it's there...
I am trying to "promise" those here on the board not to bring my politics onto the board any longer unless it deals with our "vegan" lifestyle.... Hey That's why I post and read stuff at huffpost...

I do love to discuss this stuff...find me...I'm around.....look around and you'll find me....look at the "bottom".....

OK ya'all.....no more "Cheney" for me here...unless he "shoots" a friend in the face again :D
