SciFi !!!

I've never been much of a fan of scifi. It's not something I'd read, although I did like A Wrinkle in Time in the fourth grade, and that's scifi (right?). So, I'm now addicted to Torchwood (Jack + Ianto = caliente).
I'm watching the new Dr. Who because the character Jack was introduced in that show before the spinoff. I'm completely out of my element here. What other good scifi shows are out there?
I'm unmotivated to start a new thread.
I'm going to miss David Tennant. I hope he's in another TV/movie role asap and not somewhere on stage where I won't get to see him. Plus, he looks a lot like every crush and boyfriend I've ever had.

How is it that Orson Wells has not been mentioned? War of the Worlds created mass panic in some areas when it aired. Do not mention the bastardization of a movie "staring" the actor who shall not be named.
I think it's because the thread is mainly about TV shows. I borrowed (for keeps) the audiotape version of Wells' War of the World from my dad when I was a kid. It was a fantastic listen. It got me into old-time radio shows, which are still a passion of mine (Flash Gordon, The Whistler, Yours Truly Johnny Dollar, The Shadow, Nero Wolfe, Sam Spade, Dragnet, This is Your FBI, Boston Blackie, The Return of Sherlock Holmes). Some of the detective radio shows had a sci-fi angle, so I figure I can wax poetic about them here.

That's one thing my mom loves to do. SHe listens to all those shows on her satellite radio in her car. She loves it. We watched a Sherlock Holmes movie marathon the other day.
That, alone, is the reason to have satellite radio.
