This can be a fun list as we remember more or add new songs that have just been released.

Ditto! I adore them.
I don't really have a single favorite song. I have lots of favorite songs that change every day. I've been listening to Amy Winehouse and Alicia Key's latest albums lately.
OK, I must truly be an old fart because I have no idea who you are talking about!!!!!!
Nonsense!
The two I mentioned are pretty pop-ish. In general I am more alternative/indie. They're just my latest.
I love the songs you listed, by the way, DD! Lots of good ones on your list.
I must be old too! I've heard of Alicia Keys, but for all i know you guys could have made up the rest of those artists' names. My favorite song depends on my mood, but what comes to mind is Tangled Up in Blue- Bob Dylan.

I think Imagine by John Lennon is hands down the most beautiful and most meaningful song I've ever heard.
The lyrics are incomparable and incontrovertible.
Simultaneously deep and simple.
Imagine is a great song :)

Well put, SB. Definitely one of my all-time favorites. :)

My all-time favourite is Justin Hayward's "Forever Autumn". HOW did he encapsulate the feeling of autumn in that music!
Tomas de Vitoria's "Agnus Dei"--I have synasthesia and the patterns that piece makes are lovely.
"I'll Fly Away"
The song I find myself singing when things go wrong is by Paul Simon and I'm not sure of the title. The bit DH says I sing to myself goes: "The song that I was writing is left undone, I don't know why I spend my time/Writing songs I don't believe/With words that stretch and tear to rhyme."
"The Turn of a Friendly Card" by Blue Oyster Cult
Bachianas Brasileiras by Manuel Villalobos, esp. the Rodrigo version
The chorus from "The Sun Shines on our Homeland" by Shostakovich
Pretty much the whole soundtrack from Eisenstein's Alexander Nevsky, but I'm weird like that.
And, laugh if you want, Nat King Cole's "Unforgettable" and the Lettermen singing "See You in September," "Sealed with a Kiss" and "A Summer Place." The soundtrack to the few happy moments of my childhood.
My taste in music is really varied so I can't pick a favorite. Here are some I love
Come Monday-Jimmy Buffet (really the only Buffet song I like)
Angel Eyes-Jeff Healey Band
Song for You-The Carpenters
Romeo's Tune-Steve Forbert
Why-Annie Lennox
Silent All These Years-Tori Amos (The whole album actually)
Everything-Alanis Morissette
Uninvited-Alanis Morissette
Forever and Ever-Randy Travis (there are a handful of country songs that I like)
Wildfire-Michael Martin Murphy
Fast Car-Tracy Chapman
I'll have to add more later
can anyone say "wannabe"? the spice girls rock my world.
I have actually been listening to a lot of them lately - brings me back to my formative years, when I was young, innocent, and had no problems - grade school. good times.
I'm not really a ONE song person - except for "Amsterdam" by coldplay. that might be my favourtie coldplay song.
I've been listening to a lot of christmas music (Bing Crosby, Perry Como, and just recently the Ventures, and Phil Spectre). also a lot of: stevie nicks (lbelladonna), joni mitchel, john coltrane (blue train), thelonius monk, ani difranco (her most recent album is wonderful), moby (I'm so excited about his upcoming album - hint hint feelingsoreal), and bright eyes.

Siouxsie and the Banshees-Kiss them for me
Buzzcocks-why can't I touch it
The Ergs!-kinda like smitten
The Get up Kids- The one you want
Too many to add to the list....
EVERCLEAR (I love that band! Did anyone catch my profile header ;) It's from my favorite Everclear song)
I LOVE everclear! It's totally my guilty pleasure band, as in...I listen to Everclear every day...in the car...when I'm alone..and the windows are rolled up. It's just because I like to bust out 90s tunes and not be judged. I'm not cool enough to listen to any of their music past 2003
Since there's a lot of snow outside and I can't really go anywhere, here's a long list of songs I listen to on a more than regular basis.....
