NVR: Hey, does anybody out there know the name of this one lady Alaskan singer?

I have been racking my brain trying to find out the name of this one lady Alaskan folk singer. I was watching a show one time on PBS about this lady and her husband who loved the arctic and did all kinds of stuff to help save it. The show had music from this one lady who was singing folk music about Alaska. I have searched and searched the web but I was never able to find her. She sang about the wild untamed beauty of Alaska. I loved music and I wanted to buy the CD but I have no idea who she is.
Irene Bedard, maybe? I know she's a folk singer and I believe she comes from that area. She did the voice of Pocahontas in the Disney movie.
The only Alaskan singer I can think of is Jewel ???

I don't know if the lady is from Alaska, but sings a song about Alaska. I wish I remember awhile ago I found a website selling her CD but it was a strange website where I had to send them a check and then they would send the CD. I never looked any farther. I am beginning to think that this lady is not very well know at all.
Thanks for your help though. If I could only remember that show that her music played on, it was like "Arctic Dreams" or something like that. It was a really good show.
