Chronic illness and veganism

Hello friends--
I decided to go vegetarian for health reasons after being diagnosed with systemic lupus erythmatosus. However, my doctor told me I shouldn't go vegan (and wasn't too enthusiastic that I am no longer eating meat).
Vegans without health problems are telling me not to worry about it. People with lupus are encouraging me to keep consuming dairy and to start eating fish again (which I really, really don't want to do).
So is there anyone on here who is both vegan and has a chronic health problem? What can I expect if I go vegan? I'd really like to hear from people with other autoimmune problems.
Thanks so much!

Disease cannot live in an alkaline body. It can only survive in an acid body state. Animal products create acid in the body. By eatting an vegan diet that is low in a acid will change your body's PH levels. The book " The H Miracle" By Robert O Young is truly a miracle to me and my patients. I work at an Alternative Health Care Clinic and we have seen miracles when people start eliminating meat, dairy, coffee, and all animal products.
Most doctors don't know so much about nutrition!! They MIGHT take one class in their formative years (prerequisites before medical school); so they still fall prey to advertising campaigns. I could not tell you how many doctors think milk is the absolute best source of calcium and that we cannot LIVE without meat. Then again, I also cannot believe how many doctors smoke.
Anyway, I implore you to speak with a nutritionist or possibly a nurse practitioner (they tend to have more background in nutrition than doctors and they use a more holistic approach to medicine)
