Ladies PLEASE Be AWARE of SOY, (

Soy may not be the healthy alternative that it’s been marketed as.
There is research that soy adversely affects the female reproductive system… The symptoms are similar to that of a yeast infection. ( That’s because the uterus is literally disintegrating and being discharged. (
Knowledge is Power!
Because of the lack of in-depth research, scientist are speculating that the effects of soy to the female reproductive system is directly correlated to how much you consume – moderate is supposed to be key…
Here’s to healthy living.

How dare you try to protect me and my health as a fellow caring vegan by spreading information!? You must have an alterior motive, as everyone with any sense knows that soy is the ultimate god-given food. In fact, i think i heard that Jesus ate soy. Soy is the miracle food that enables me to eat less tasty versions of every food that i, as a vegan, stand against. In fact, between soy flour, isolated soy protein, TSP, soy curds, soy lecithin, soybean oil, and edamame, soy products make up about 80% of the ingredients in my wholesome vegan diet, and i'm still alive, clear-thinking, productive, and without rediculous emotional attachments that i feel i must defend!
Obviously studies done by the dairy industry that suggest any sort of benefit from milk is a huge conflict of interest and should not be trusted...those people are EVIL!! But insinuating that the soy industry is out to make a buck is absurd! The soy industry is made up of the most good, honest people looking out for the welfare of me and my children.
You stay right here while i go google for some other unsupported articles that closer represent my tastes, so that i can post them and set you straight! I'll be back.

I think it's important to share information here, to help educate one another, etc. However, there are appropriate ways to go about it. Maybe something like "Hey ladies, I came across this article that sounds important, you should read it, you might learn something from it...". Not telling us that our uterus is disintegrating because we're eating too much soy. Yes, a post like that is going to come w/ some ridicule. Same with the canola oil post, seems like the whole arm splitting open like rotting flesh is pretty darn dramatic, along the same lines of disintegrating body parts. Plus, I think we're all sick of trolls, and most definitely a bit leery of these "oh my gosh, the sky is falling!" kind of posts. This is a home for most of us, we're a bit protective.
Wow! How do I sign up for the whole uterus disintegration? Seems much easier than a lot of other options.
right!?!? nix the concern of unwanted pregnancy and shitty periods! i mean, if i ever decide to become a mother, i think i would be happy adopting
i dono about making your uterus disinagerate. but I can tell you that soy does affet the female endocrine system. I experienced this first hand.
Last year I began eating soy about once a day by way of soymilk, fake meats, ect. Within a month of this constant eating of soy my menstural cycle went haywire. At the time I had no idea it was becuase of soy products and I didnt find out for another 10 months or so of thinking horrible things could be wrong with me. Basically though my period went from being about 30 days to 50ish days and once even 80 days all over this 10 month period...I was eating soy this whole time because i didnt know that it was causing my crazy menstration. And, all of the doctors I visted had no idea either until i finally went with alternative care. I can tell you this i stoped eating soy the very day i found out that its low forms of estrogen can screw up the female cycle.
So what you say...if my cycle is a little longer. Well first off it can cause problems regarding pregnancy and secondly women with longer menstrual cycles are prone to weaker bones due to the way calcium is absorbed in the body.
anyways I dont think this will really happen unless you eat soy daily or every other day maybe. But for me i keep it to about two times a month.
Well, normally I cringe when people say this, but I think the best lesson here is everything (everything vegan, that is) in moderation. Don't base your entire diet on soy, even if it doesn't give you any problems. That's the best way too get all your nutrients. Like, change up soy milk with almond milk next time and things like that.
I think it is also important to know that everyone's body reacts differently. So not everyone eating soy has your reaction.

I compleatly agree with that statement. But all im saying is its happend to me and i know and have heard of other women it has happend too.
and soy does contain estrogen.
I agree with the 'everything in moderation.' It's possible to be a vegan whose every meat- milk- whatever-substitute as soy-based, and now there's lots of soy-enriched type foods, from chips to pasta. It's easy to eat a ton of soy.
But if this is an issue about soy in general, then everyone should be having disintegrating uteruses ("vegetable oil" is everyyyyywhere).
But for phytoestrogens...
I've been doing some research-type papers for my writing class about the effects of various animal products and health (e.g. animal protein and cancer, milk products and bone health, blah blah blah), and occasionally in a study there's an additional variable studied that is some form of soy. And in each one I've read, it doesn't seem to make a difference. Doesn't help or hurt. I found some articles like this, but I'm at a university to access them, so some of you might not be able to. But, here goes:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/utils/fref.fcgi?PrId=3494&itool=AbstractPlus-nondef&uid=18005447&db=pubmed&url=http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?tool=pubmed&pubmedid=18005447

http://cebp.aacrjournals.org/cgi/content/full/15/12/2574
http://erc.endocrinology-journals.org/cgi/content/full/13/4/995
Then again, this article supports positive bone effects from genistein:
http://www.annals.org/cgi/content/full/146/12/839
and phytoestrogens and colon cancer:
http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?tool=pubmed&pubmedid=17116718
Though the "protective" benefit of soy may not really be attributable to soy or phytoestrogens or whatever, but has to do with people who generally ingest lots of soy... health-conscious people who might be using soy to replace animal products and generally take good care of themselves.

Just to be clear here- you're not suggesting that Divadee is a troll are you?
I think you make a great point that there are better ways to phrase and present things than others. On the same token, none of us are perfect and I believe Divadee was genuinely concerned for people here and simply trying to help spread awareness. To be fair, there are a lot of "studies" that say soy is harmful, not to mention ones that say the opposite. ::) So it never hurts to be informed of all sides. That way we can make the most educated decisions. But yeah, presentation helps a lot. Pot talking to the kettle maybe. <---( uh, that's me poking fun at myself) ;)
As far as soy, I think a little in moderation is ok- for me. I don't eat it very often because there are just too many other better things out there. I think the wisest thing is to just stay away from as much processed foods as possible. I think most of us here know that processesed foods, even vegan, are not the healthiest choices for us.

Holler to this.

Oh No! that would be awful--I was figuring if my uterus disintergrated I would at least lose a couple pounds! *blerg* shame on soy!
Soy in moderation??? What is that? For the past three years soymilk, tofu, as well as other soy products are part of my daily diet. I mean, I drink a GALLON of soymilk a week. I love the stuff, as well as eat a block of tofu a week, sometimes two...by myself.
Is that moderation?
I have been doing that for about the past 3 to 4 years. Does it affect fertility? Let me ask little Junior in my belly..."junior, is my uterous degenerating, you can see it better where you are at, just let me know?" Wait for a moment for a responce *kick*...hmmm guess that is a no.
Seriously though, I think it affects some people differnly than others. Those whom it affects, they may have a mild alergy. My body seems to crave it! If I don't get some form of soy every single day I begin to crave it, and I have been that way for at least a year now.
I think it is also important to know that everyone's body reacts differently. So not everyone eating soy has your reaction.
I agree. Some will take soy better than others. As with any other food. It's good to keep ourselves informed, but at the end of the day, the body will speak, listen to it.
This issue seemed to be dead! but hey I am a hypochondriac, I am now wondering if my constant sneezing might be an allergy to soy. I decided to do some research my self but there is not much out there regarding allergy's just that i should eliminate if from my diet and see if my symptoms go away, 2nd option is to see my doctor which will be my next step.

I however did come across an interesting link. http://www.revivalsoy.com/whysoy/article.html?flash6=yes&article=menopause&OVKEY=soy%20menopause&OVRAW=soy%20related%20to%20menopause&OVKWID=57665317022&OVADID=6861994522&OVMTC=advanced

Typically, food/consumable allergies don't cause sneezing....think itchy skin/rashes/hives/acne/headaches and anaphylactic shock.... sneezing is normally due to environmental allergens.
Here's a great article by a doctor that talks about all the anti-soy myths that have been going around--avid readers of this thread might want to check it out :)

Eliminate soy milk from your diet if you have inexplicable bouts of acne, angioedema (hives below the skin), a persistent runny/congested nose and diarrhea. While one or two of these symptoms in isolation may be signs of other, more transient conditions, the constellation of symptoms point toward a soy milk allergy.
