why did you have to stop listening to groovy tunes? accompanying activitiez?
Yep. PF's obvious, right? but Hank - which finally rubbed off from my father, couldn't be heard without at least 1/2 bottle of whiskey.
Plus, I thought both may be contibuting to some depression many years ago. I don't think they cause it, but I think they can influence someone who is susceptible, maybe, don't know fo sho. In any event, *rarely* get out Hank today cause it is just too down in the dumps miserable (tho he was once in lifetime artist, real genius!!!). But last times I got out PF it was *killer* without a single accompanying activity - cept redbull. I just have to take it in smaller doses today, no pun intended. Plus, I still haven't gotten used to Pink Floyd without Roger Waters.
Today I primarily need music leaning toward inspirational and away from blow my brains out reality. So: energy drinks, not spirits for me.
i am torn between built to spills live album and lit. Either one will wake up my sleeping midget.... Might play both at the same time! >:D

Agreed.
BUT, if you ever want to go to a REAL party concert, go see Hank Jr. People passed out in bushes, the whole arena reeks of budweiser, weed, piss and vomit. It's good times.

;D Serious?! It almost sounds like the Kid Rock concert I went to. Wasn't there a rumor going around that Kid Rock is the son of Hank Williams, Jr.? lol!

Rancid, NICE!
I've been listening to Grace Potter and The Head and the Heart. Me gusta mucho

About Hank Sr. v. Jr.... Well, there is really no comparison. But I do like me some Jr. now and again AND it ain't the kick me in the head, steal my car and rape my wife depressing as papa is. Jr. was fairly good artist, but nashville clubs on Saturday nights are full of those. Hank actually MADE the town of Nashville - not to say Loretta and Patsy didn't pitch in, of course. Back in the day when it was the Memphis boys (Cash, Lee Lewis and um...that other guy) Hank kept Nashville on the map and became the music city country sound. Gotta give that some woot. Still Hank's one of the most authentic musicans Ive ever heard.
About Kid Rock being son of Jr... wow that would make SO many things make a heck of a lot of sense. For instance it would explain why he looks/acts so 3rd generation backwoods redneck - I live in Nashville, I can say "redneck"! Any evidence either way?
Me today...
Someone gave me a ripped copy (shh!) of Metallica's Death Magnet over a year ago. I listened to part of it only once and was like "meh." Listening again for 2nd time right now and am like, "What the F was I thinking?!" Day-um!!
I have 1000 things to do and so far I've spent the morning singing along to tunes on youtube and jumping around like a spaz. I am a dork. ;D

I just noticed that you're from TN! Hell yeah!
But Yeah, Hank Sr's sound molded the golden era of country music and artists tried to mimic his sound/style for years after that. And while I like Hank Jr's stuff, his daddy's voice really permeates and sails out at you. Jr's got his own vibe that works, but Sr. is the best voice country music has ever heard, and country music would not be what it is without him.
Some stoner rock and some rocksteady and some hip hop
Draconian on repeat. Bless the 90s and their awesome music.

Yeah, well not originally. I came down here as a damn yankee 8 years - and they never let me forget it!

I moved here a year and a half ago from California. East Nashville is the closest I get to anything slightly yankee. I love my neighborhood!
But why no mention of Hank III?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6NiPB_O8Y8&feature=related
To be honest, I did not know there was one. I thought the closet to Hank III we got was rumors that Kid Rock was Jr.s son (still interested if anyone can point me to info...?). I quit listening to country a while back, but I still sample some today. What I hear on the radio occasionally sux!!
Anyway, now I gotta listen to some KR - but not the latest country kinda stuff, the bawitabaw days - MY NAME IS KIIIIIID!!!!!!
