What DVD are you watching lately?

I have BBC's Persuasion on, but I can't really get into. I've heard thought that BBC's Sense & Sensibility is good. Of course I"ve watched the Ang Lee Emma Thompson version which is superb... I may get it this week to see :P
Burgess on Lawrence
A BBC documentary on D. H. Lawerence free on youtube. Meh. Burgess is like a caricature, growling and spitting and pushing out words apparently in love with his own voice. He seems drunk too, half slurring his words most of the time...when he is not growling or spitting. But of course everyone seems drunk to me. It was good to get a look at Lawrence's life, about which I knew little. 3/5
You got his character down in one. Burgess is one of the overhyped British authors of our time. Julian Fellowes is another. (I don't deny JF has done some good TV scripts and stuff but his novel-type writing is superindulgent). Even in the 80s I read one of Burgess' books which was touted on the cover as "hysterical" and I didn't even smile once. And not because "British humour is subtle." Just because it wasn't funny.
Currently going through Star Trek: The Next Generation. My mum got me the whole set last christmas on dvd and am now up to season 7. Loving it. Don't know what I'm going to do one I've finished them all D:

I didn't think it was too bad. It is predictable, and it's nothing new..but it was mildly entertaining, and the acting is not bad. 3/5
Chasing Sleep
This movie drove me crazy! I'm into an obtuse psychological thriller, but this was so tiresome, with really weird acting, and no real character development. It was so tiresome, and I wish I had just ended it. I thought it might pull through somewhat in the end, but it did not. I'm into strange movies, but this fell very short. I actually gave it a 1/5.

omfg, Jessimaka33!!!!!!!!!! I had forgotten all about that movie. Film, some would call it. I used to watch it constantly in college - my friends & I were obsessed with it. THAT REVIEW YOU WROTE IS FREAKING AWESOME.

I liked it a lot! I never cared about Jim Carey until he did some non silly movies, and I think he's a great actor. This is probably my 2nd favorite of his movies after Truman Show. This isn't like an lololol comedy for me, but it had some funny moments, and was just a good movie. I liked it the whole way through.
Insidious
Hm. Not really sure what to think of this. I had kinda high expectations because it's gotten good reviews, but I didn't like it that much. Pretty slow in the beginning. It is suspenseful in parts, but then the scare is slightly a let down. It's a little bit different, but some of the same. On the brink of cheesiness. P liked it more than I did. I think there's a good story here, but ..hm.

Re-watched Amelie. Great couple of hours. As DH says, yes it is a little long by modern standards, but you really can't cut anything out of it. I'm glad he didn't go with Sony.

I don't trust you to like my picks!! It's an odd one... did you read the summary? It's weird, but I thought it was very well done and interesting. Now I'm scared.

I thought the same of I Love You, Phillip Morris. I really like Jim Carey in Eternal Sunshine too.
Insidious... I was expecting it to be pretty good as well but it was really cheesy to me. I kept losing interest in it and the scary showdown part in the end wasn't great either.
I've also been watching the first couple episodes of Twin Peaks. I'm hooked!
Twin Peaks is so good!!
I have been watching Boardwalk Empire, but have almost lost interest. I'm hoping it picks up because I really want to like this show.
