I have BBC's Persuasion on, but I can't really get into. I've heard thought that BBC's Sense & Sensibility is good. Of course I"ve watched the Ang Lee Emma Thompson version which is superb... I may get it this week to see :P
I watched an old movie called Camille last night. It was good, but no one in the movied is named Camille. I kept thinking they put the wrong movie in the envelope!
If that's the one with Garbo, it's because of the flower, not a person. La Dame aux Camelias. She buys a big raft of camellias every day and it becomes her "mark."
lol, thanks for clearing that up, I was so confused!
Lubi, personally I find Garbo's "deathroes" in the arms of her lover at the end hysterical. I mean, rolling her eyes back in her head? It cracks me up every. single. time. I saw it with my BFF and she was crying and thought I was totally heartless.
yeah, I thought it was kinda cheesey!
Yeah, Garbo was not such a good actress, IMHO.
The Modernism of Julius Shulman
Watched another random documentary (about architecture/photography). Pretty good! I like these docs with nice old people. 4/5
New Town Killers
Couldn't get into this. There's really not much to it at all, but I'll still try to finish it...
Pumpkin Karver
Horrible! Awful! 1/5
Mothman
Not bad at all, especially for a Syfy original. Ok story, not bad acting. 3/5
House of Bones
I feel like this had real potential for an evil/ghost type movie. It just didn't completely come together toward the end, and some things weren't really explained at all. Not scary, but a good movie overall. 3.5/5

OMG, they made a movie about that guy??!! I'm so intrigued! I saw parts of a documentary about MOTHMAN on A&E or History or something, and it totally scared me! I want to hear more about it!!! Tell me it's based on eye-witness encounters, please!!!!! And tell me that you actually get to SEE the mothman himself in this movie!! :D

Whoa! Well, this movie itself is definitely not based on eye witness encounters, but I assume just based on the legend (??) of the mothman, in general. Have you heard of the Mothman Prophecies? That is a much better movie, and I think more based on the "truth" of the legend. Mothman is a Syfy original movie, so it's more sci-fi/horror based. It wasn't scary to me, but not a bad movie. You see the "mothman." He can only come through reflective surfaces..until a certain ritual is performed.

Oh.
Well that sounds like a different mothman. Maybe his twin brother or something. The mothman in the documentary I saw was sort of like the Chupacabra, and unfortunately did not have any special powers involving reflective surfaces. He was just a half moth/half man dude that chased people around after dark.
Doesn't have to be scary to scare me. I'm a mega-coward.
On a related note:

MANSQUITO??!!!! Yes.

Well, I dunno if that's actually part of the legend (the mirror thing). I'm sure it's all based on the same story (in West Virginia?).
Ren and Stimpy: Adult Party Show/(or cartoon) <--- blame bloody mary's for short term memory dysfunction.
wow..... um 8 episodes, all on available on the netflix streaming... don't watch if you don't want to demoralize your ren and stimpy experience. but seriously... holy LMFAO!

The mirror thing sounds like they took it from that old conjuring ritual "Mary Worth."

Alexandre Dumas wrote the original book, not that anyone cares. LOL
"La Ceremonie" (Isabelle Huppert, Sandrine Whats-her-name, dir Chabrol). Cold-shivers time just due to the directing. Masterly sinister "what's coming now?" movie.
Yes, triple post. So shoot me.
Halloween (2007)
Rob Zombie remake. I thought it was awesome (for a horror movie)! Rob Zombie knows how to make a horror. I don't have any attachment to the original movies, so my thoughts on this are solely on its own. Long, and slightly drawn out, but good.
I guess I've only watched 19 horror movies so far in October...dunno if I'll make it to 31!
My friend recently loaned me the Karate Kid box set. HOLY CRAP, THEY GO TO JAPAN AND THE COBRA KAI GUY IS STILL PISSED!!!

Yes! Excellent film, AC. I could've done without the rape scene, though. I hate rape scenes.
I just watched V for Vendetta. Again. Always amazing! :)

Oh, we watched it on Syfy, so i didn't even see that..thankfully.

Very cool. :) Did you ever see the sequel Zombie did for Halloween? It was pretty awesome as well.
Well the Spice Voting is pretty scarey to watch, AC; you could count that....
I watched Alfred Hitchcock's "The 29 Steps" last night. Was decent. It was his first hit, from his early career, and there were lots of sparks of his talent. For an old B/W on a laptop it wasn't bad... 3/5
Also watched Snows of Kilmanjaro with Gregory Peck and Susan Hayward. Just didn't like it. There were parts that were ok, and the dialog was fantastic, with lots of Hemmingway-isms in there, but so little action, and so Hollywood-ized. 2/5
Then there was Vincent Price in The Last Man On Earth, upon which Hollywood has tried to improve not once with Charlton Heston in Omega Man, but twice with Will Smith in I Am Legend. Each had their merits and it hard to pick a fav, but I think it would be the middle one Omega Man. I didn't like the ending of The Last Name On Earth, but I thought Vincent Price did a fantastic job, almost as good as he was as the mysterious bad man in Brady Bunch Hawaii Vacation ;) 3/5
That's all for now.
