Spinning

Does anyone do this? I've heard loads of good things about it but nobody's been able to properly explain what it is. Someone told me "it's like dancing with a bike"?

I've seen people doing it before at my gym.....it looks terribly difficult - for me that is....they come out soaked in sweat and panting....I guess if you're in really good shape, it might be fun....

It's bikes with resistance.  You can adjust the resistance to make it harder to pedal.  The instructor has music and tells you the cues--like, what pace to pedal and how hard to go.  Sometimes you do "jumps" and "hills" where you adjust your speed and resistance accordingly.

It's fun!  It's very challenging as well.

I haven't been to a spinning class in awhile, but it is a fun class and a great workout. Like KMK said, you can adjust your bike for an easier or harder workout. Just don't overdo it on your first class or you'll be wiped out.

The harder part of the workout for me is not so much the pedaling but the loud music. Bring ear plugs just in case. Don't forget your towel and bottled water.

I've only ever done 1 spin class & I tell you, never again will I attempt it. I couldn't even finish the whole thing because I was just so exhausted. It kills your legs completely if you aren't used to it. I suggest doing some light-moderate exercise on a stationary bicycle at the gym for a while before you attempt a class.
