Whats your least fav. veggie/fruit

i HATE beets! There so healthy for you though  :-\ . I try to cut them up real small but its always a struggle (I eat them raw).

Just curious ...do you have any veggie that no matter what its hard to eat? What about fruit.

Least Favorite

Veggie-Beets
Fruit- Oranges (I LOVE clementines though)

Beets are my favorite vegetable :)

I hate olives--they are absolutely repulsive to me.  I also don't like basil.

veggie= peepers, not a fan of red or green ones. I don't care to too much for raw kale either.

fruit= mandarin orange, I think that is what they are called. They are often on salads.

celery. its not a vegetable, its cunningly disguised inedible pieces of string, which are joined together on a stick of mildly sour, crunchy- yet- watery foulness, which is vile when raw, and which turns to insipid mush when cooked.  :o bleurgh bleurgh bleurgh. :o

i also hate cilantro (corriander for us brits). what an excellent invention: a herb that tastes like the smell of a bathtub full of cat wee thats had a few weeks to marinade in the deep pile carpet of a sealed living-room. why, why, why would anyone want their food to share the flavours and aromas of cat wee?

anything else i'm pretty happy to eat, ('cept mushrooms, i have spore allergies) though i'm not huge on peppers- especially in big chunks, and/or raw, and more so green ones.

i've yet to try a few vegetables though... i have a feeling i'd not be a fan of okra, fennel, or bitter melon, if i did try them, and i've never had an artichoke either.

I happen to love cilantro....but you should check out this site if you haven't run across it already :)

Veggies:  Olives- they are sooo salty and gross!  When my sister was very young, she used to sit across from me at the dinner table and eat them straight out of the jar and tell everyone she was eating "snake eyes."  I'm pretty sure that is what ruined it for me!  :P  Also asparagus.  I have never even tried it, I can't get past the smell.  I think it's stinky like dirty, sweaty gym socks!

Fruit:  I'd say mangos but I'm not really sure I gave them a fair shot.  I have only tried one once and I'm not sure if it was ripe.  It tasted fishy to me.  ???

You have to find a good mango...i used to think they were so stringy and realized each mango is SO different.

They are MY favorite fruit...esp. from Peru... :D

I don't llike celery either or parlsey...i sub cilantro for parsley...never thought of olives as anything.

Fruit:  tie between mango (too much trouble) & avocado (had a bite of fermenting avo once and that was it)

least fav. veggies: fennel, mushrooms of all kinds, chicoree, cilantro (I'm a cilantro hater too, glad I'm not alone), green bell peppers
least fav. fruit: dates, raisins (though I do like grapes), papaya, figs, and I'm also not a fan of citrus fruits except good satsuma oranges, but they have to the kinds with thick skin and juicy flesh. Well, I don't particularly dislike citrus fruits, but I never crave them and never find myself buying them.

And I hate anise and caraway seed, but those are spices.

Least fav. fruit: Spanish apples and pears. People here like them "floury" (ie mushy and flavourless). It really isn't cold enough here to raise apples. When we joined the EEC I thought, oh good, decent apples from France and Germany--but no.

Least fav. veg: Carrots (at least the ones I can get here). I miss the sweet, crunchy American carrots. No one in their right mind would snack on a raw carrot here--except maybe a horse.

i don't even know what it's called in english, but my mom used to make us it this foul, bitter tasting gourd-like vegetable when i was a kid. everything else i hated as a kid (okra, spinach, raw tomatoes) i've grown to love, but this one vegetable still seems like the most disgusting thing ever...

p.s. NO one who's ever eaten a good mango didn't like it. if you think you don't like mangoes, go to an Indian grocery and get a good quality one... seriously...

Hopfrog, thanks for the link, I have a friend who's always raving about the "health benefits" of cilantro, personally aside from being a strong emetic in my case, I don't see any! UGH. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it just tastes like soapy dirt!
I've also shared the link with a different friend who's always pointing me to odd things on the net.

What a great thread! My least favorite vegetable is actually something my mother never ever cooked: okra. I can't quite get past the viscosity of it. *shivers* I LOVE brussels, which seems to be a favorite here. My childhood hatred for tomatoes has turned into my adult passion for them! But okra...? I get that the slime factor works well for gumbo, but...eugh.

Least favorite - mushrooms. Ugh. WHY on Earth would you want to eat a fungus?? Something that is grown in manure? Yuck. I can't imagine what mushrooms do to your body. That's also why I avoid yeast, too. :P

Other than that, I have yet to meet a fruit or veggie I didn't like. Except maybe grapefruit, although with reflux, my citrus days are long behind me anyway  :'(

least fav veggie;

i can NOT stand OKRA!!!  it is so slimy no matter what you do to it.  i hate it plain, in stews, insoups, on salads, fried, boiled, grilled, on trains, planes and automobiles.  i can NOT stand okra!!!

least fav fruit;

fresh pineapple makes the roof of my mouth peel.  i like my mouth skin in tact thank you.

Least favorite veggies: cucumbers-- they taste like soap to me, and endives (if I'm remembering correctly)-- they taste like nail polish remover or something!

Least favorite fruit: kiwis-- can't stand the texture

As far as mangoes go, when you find a bad one, it's really bad, but when you find a good one, it's heaven!
