Least favorite fruit is definitely watermelon. I can't think of any vegetarian food on earth that I really detest except for watermelon. I'm not a fan of any melon, but watermelon... vile.

As for veggies, I'm pretty open to whatever, including stuff like beets and okra that nobody really likes. I guess my least favorite is cauliflower, which is just a little stinky and boring and blah. I'll still eat it in Indian food and maybe other dishes if it's cooked right.

I really like the Tahini Cauliflower from this site.  It's a nice way to add some extra flavor.

I use more tahini than it calls for, though.

celery. its not a vegetable, its cunningly disguised inedible pieces of string, which are joined together on a stick of mildly sour, crunchy- yet- watery foulness, which is vile when raw, and which turns to insipid mush when cooked.  :o bleurgh bleurgh bleurgh. :o

Heartily YES!! Smellery I call it... a vegetable that eats you, as it takes more calories to eat than it gives you... AND it tastes BAD.  :o I can't believe how people put it in vegetable stock/soup - the taste sticks out like a sore thumb! And stinks when it's cooked! Uck. Ptah.  >:(

Mushrooms? Well, they aren't a vegetable. ME NO LIKEY FUNGUS.  ???

Me loooves fruits. I can't think of any fruits I don't like, although some commercially grown tropical fruits have no flavour at all (e.g. papayas, mangos)

While I can't think of a vegetable I do not like, I don't like when copious amounts of vinegar is introduced to a vegetable.

Cucumbers = Great! Pickles, not so much.

Olives in dishes = great! Out of the jar... any jar... not so much.

Cabbage? Yes please! Saur Kraut? NOOOO!!!!

And for all you cilantro haters, I was reading somewhere recently, that it may actually be genetic. Something about a super-sensitivty to something or other. LEt me put on my Google-miner's cap and see what I can find...

For veggies I hate peas and celery.  For fruits I don't like any melons (cantalope, honeydew, watermelon).

I find it humerous when a non veggie finds out I don't like a certain fruit or vegetable.  I ALWAYS get the response "but you're a vegetarian, how can you not like that?"  I tell them "you're a carnivore, do you like liver, kidneys, tongue, or intestine? No?  Well now you understand I'm just like you."  ;)

On Cilantro...

At least there's research, eh?

Not for me, cilantro conjures bad memories - that's why I don't like it. last year, while in residence at university, the food court cooks would put cilantro in EVERY salad at the salad bar. I hated the food court with a vengeance, and now I just CAN'T STAND the smell of cilantro. it's unfortunate.

I don't like green or yellow beans, and olives (just the smell turns my stomach).

as for fruit, that's hard to say... hmmm. I've eaten so many cherries in the last few months that I don't want to eat them now. they're sooo good, but I've eaten too many.

I hope people are trying their least favorites once in a blue moon, though. Because taste buds to change as you age.

Honestly, five years ago I'd have called you nuts if you told me I'd like raw tomatoes...

Edit: I forgot olives. The only way I'll have olives is in martinis. Otherwise, I think they taste kinda funky. Another Thanksgiving adventure.

You mean your Thanksgivings are Martini-less? Where's your sense of tradition?!?!

Sorry.  I just worry seeing young'uns starting to drink too young.  Alcoholism and all that.

I haven't meet a fruit or vegetable in adulthood that I didn't like at least a little.  When I was a kid, I HATED beets and spinach, but that was because the only way I ever had them served to me was canned and boiled....BLEHHCHHH!  When things are fresh and well prepared, I have no problems.  I prefer beets to be raw, in salad, or cooked as a base for soup.  I love spinach in just about any form now.

Green peppers aren't my favorite, but I still like them.  I'm not a huge fan of BAKED apples or pears, but I still like both fruits.

I wasn't a fan of olives - until I tasted them in Italy - TOTALLY DIFFERENT!  They weren't that briney mess we have in america.  I've gotten used to the briney mess, though....

I learned to drink at church choir parties...and I mean drink - we did shots!
(I'm raised Catholic, so it's all good.)

The first time I got drunk I was about 14 and my dad was in the room with me at the same party.

I think because I drank in a secure environment at a young age, when I got to college I didn't go as wild as some others.  I went to plenty of toga and keg parties & drank heavily at a few, but in general, I kept my cool and didn't get to out of control.

Now I'm 31, and I drink only on occassion, with friends and usually over dinner.
